What is Sunset? 

  • Sunset is a time in the evening when the sun disappears or daylight fades.
  • Sunset, also known as sundown, is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon due to Earth's rotation.

Few facts about sunsets:

  1. Sunrise in the East, Sunset in the West. The Sun rising in the east because the Earth rotates on its axis from west to east. In other words, it spins toward the east, making it look like the Sun is moving west. 
  2.  Twilight, Dawn/Sunrise, and Dusk/Sunset. Twilight designates the time when there is light, but the Sun is technically below the horizon. It happens in the morning (dawn) and the evening (dusk).
  3.  Sunsets are more dramatic after rainstorms as the storm washes away a lot of the big pollutant particles in the air. 
  4. Sunset is the opening music of the night.
  5. It has been proven that watching the sunrise or sunset gives you a better sense of gratitude for the earth. When you are caught up in the natural beauty of the Earth (like a sunset), you rid yourself of any distractions and feel higher levels of satisfaction and gratitude for what's happening in front of you.
  6. A lover of sunsets is called an 'opacarophile'.
